Ch Chenille Hearts On Fire "Jema" Wins Best Of Opposite

Another year has passed so quickly and were off to a great start on 2011. Wonderful time showing with our friends and enjoying our winning celebrations at San Mateo Kennel Club Dog Show. Jema starting out with a bang of wonderful wins over the current number 1 ranked female shih tzu in the nation. Outstanding performance under rough conditions Stacey Bingham winning Best of Opposite with CH Chenille Hearts On Fire "Jema" under Judge Joe Tacker. It's been a while since Stacey has shown Jema, she did a splendid job. Very Proud of Jema this week as she earned more points towards her Grand Championship. We did have a few friends drop by the ring, Cheryll Limso and her family. Loved seeing them all again and and enjoying a yummy home cooked dinner with her family. Were so excited about all the fun shows coming this New Year 2011. Also winners over the top ranked shih tzu this week are Therese Foreman showing Eddie Best of Breed, also Diane Boone showing Vincent Best of Breed well done ladies congratulations.

ASTC National 2010 Shih Tzu Special

An exciting time we had at the American Shih Tzu Club National, held in St Louis, Missouri. So many stunning Shih Tzu groomed to perfection and ready to show. This is truly a wonderful event for all Shih Tzu lovers. Watching adorable Shih Tzu puppies to the full coated Shih Tzu specials. This was my first time watching ring side at the ASTC National 2010. Supporting our wonderful friend Therese Forman and her girl CH Amituz China Doll, winning the Best of Opposite, Handled by Taffy Mc Fadden. Breed Judge: Mrs. Sally Vilas.

Most enjoyable was watching the Shih Tzu Puppies show in the Sweepstakes. These adorable little ones put on a wonderful show. We all love the cute puppies learning the ring, making us all giggle with affection. Sweepstakes Judge: Mrs. Margaret Brown did a wonderful job judging these outstanding puppies starting their championships. All of them are winners in our eyes as they are perfect representatives of the standard American Shih Tzu. Shih Tzu breeders from Canada, Brazil, Lithuania were present to show their newest champion prospects. Congratulations to all the Winners of the ASTC 2010 Shih Tzu National.

Golden Gate Shih Tzu Fanciers Shih Tzu Speciality 2010

We had a wonderful evening at the 38th Golden Gate Shih Tzu Speciality 2010 in San Jose, California. Chenille Tia Mia Amour, won Best of Winners, and Winners Bitch. Also our little 6 mo puppy Chenille Yahoo Doing the Dew won Winners Dog and Best of Opposite. We want to give a BIG Thank you to our Judge: Miss Virginia L. Lyne and our Handler Mr. Don Rodgers also President of the GGSTF Bonnie Prato. We look forward to this show each year and enjoy meeting and showing with all our shih tzu friends. After the show we have our GGSTF meeting, refreshments with Bonnie's super delicious Coconut cake. Showing this weekend with the top ranked Shih Tzu, also with Adrain Agard, world famous Xeralane Kennel from Hawaii. Another memorable year showing and winning at the Shih Tzu Speciality.

Our puppy social trainner "Lily" is making sure our 9 week old shih tzu puppies get plenty of social time. Chenille's home raised shih tzu puppies enjoy running and playing with toys and our grandchildren. We make sure that all of our puppies get loads socializing, so important for them to grow into happy adults.

Sansha's puppies are 2 weeks old, eyes are just now open. They are so delicate at this stage, with the tiny puppy paws and cute little noses. Scooting around with tiny legs, finding that perfect spot to sleep. They are at a wonderful stage of life, mommy keeping a close eye on each one. Knowing which one needs attending, she cleans and stimulates each puppy. Sansha has to be healthy and strong to produce enough milk for 6 beautiful shih tzu puppies. Small breeds have a greater energy requirement per pound of body weight, the size of the litter requires more nutrients for milk production. Increasing her calorie intake as the puppies require more nutrition. Feeding premium food for greater caloric and nutrient. Proper nutrition is essential for healthy growing shih tzu puppies.

Sansha & Alan Shih Tzu Puppies

Sansha and Alan Yingsu's Hav'n a Goodtime at Amitzu amazing new litter of shih tzu puppies June 26, 2009. We are so excited to see five males and one female, these shih tzu puppies with outstanding markings and gorgeous faces. Sansha produced beautiful shih tzu puppies again, her last litter with Centerfold Silhouette Encore "Cory" are in the show ring. Chenille Soft Tail Classic (Myles) also Chenille Coco Chanel (CeCe) have done extremely well. We are choosing our next show prospects out of this wonderful litter, so watch for us in the show ring. Crate Training Your Puppy

Crate Training

One of the most dog friendly methods of training your pet is crate training. The process is very natural and uses the den instincts of the puppy or dog to help them understand where a safe place in the house is for them as well as giving them their own space and area. Since dogs naturally do not want to soil this area they are less likely to mess in the crate leading to faster and more efficient housebreaking.

Routines
Crate training works in conjunction with a puppies body functions. Establishing a routine with the puppy will help with the process and will avoid any unnecessary accidents. To use crate training techniques follow the steps outlined below:
• Feed and water your puppy at the same times (or as close to the same times as possible) each day. Most puppies are fed at least two to four times per day depending on their age.
• When the puppy has finished eating place them in their crate with some toys and soft bedding material. The crate should be where the puppy can still see people and feel part of the family, not where they feel that they are being isolated or punished for bad behavior.
• Approximately 15 minutes after placing the puppy in the crate take them outside or to the area that you wish them to use a bathroom. If you puppy has spoiled the crate prior to this 15 minute mark don’t punish them, simply clean the crate and plan the next time to take them out 5 minutes earlier. This is a process of trial and error but you will eventually find out just when the little puppy will go to the bathroom after eating.
• Have the puppy walk with you to the outside area or toilet area. Praise them when they go. If they are outside for more than 3-5 minutes and are showing no signs of relieving themselves simply place them back in the crate and try again in no more than 5 minutes. Don’t scold or pay undo attention to them until the go outside and eliminate. Immediately give lots of praise and attention and return them to the house for further attention and socialization.
• Puppies quickly learn that by going outside and relieving themselves they will get lots of positive attention and will come back into the house and play with or be around the family.
Cautions with Crate Training
To be sure that crate training is completed correctly make sure that the following occurs:
• Make the crate comfortable with toys, soft, washable bedding and lots of ventilation. It is to be a positive place that is the puppies “den”.
• Never use the crate as a punishment or isolation area. If your puppy begins to associate the crate with being ignored or punished they will quickly stop wanting to go to the crate.
• Keep the crate somewhere that is part of the activity centers of the house so that the puppy can still see people and be in a familiar area.
• Do not keep the puppy in the crate for prolonged periods of time. Confining your puppy to the crate is a form of punishment to the puppy and will make the crate a negative place to be.
There are many resources and books about crate training that provide additional information. Crate training your puppy makes it easy to travel with the dog as they are always at home in their crate no matter where you are or what type of transportation you use.

I just love this photo of our newest babies. All of those bellies puppy pink. They look so relaxed and content. I can watch these babies all day, they sure make me smile. They are growing so fast, soon they will be running all over. We love taking care of these precious puppies.

Karen's Shih Tzu Puppies Week old

We are so excited to announce our new litter of Shih Tzu puppies from our very special Karen. Karen is our logo model for Chenille Shih Tzu. We work hard to make sure that mother and babies have the best care and totally pampered. They are home raised, with great attention to keeping them safe and well socialized. They are now 4 weeks old and starting to show their cute personalities. We will be updating videos and photo's so you can watch these babies grow. Karen had one male and 3 females, the markings on these pups are outstanding. Male puppy is a beautiful gold and white, our females two of them are gorgeous black and white and one is gold and white with black tipping absolutely stunning. We strive for quality as we want to bring out the best traits possible in our shih tzu puppies. Puppies were born April 28, 2009. Take a look at them just a week old...... to cute for words!
