But to have finished Jema's Grand Championship Winning a HUGE Toy Group 1 Award under Judge: Mr William R. Russell on Sunday March 27, 2011. We want to Thank You So Much, Mr William R. Russell for awarding her Best of Breed on Saturday also. And to our Judge Mrs. Janice G. Pardue for Best Of Breed on Sunday, March 28, 2011. We do appreciate these wonderful awards, we are planning to continue with her in the show ring. Our Jema is the happiest little Shih Tzu to show, great attitude and beautiful conformation. This was one of the biggest entries showing at Nor Cal Toy Dog Fanciers Dog Show for Shih Tzu, San Jose, February 18, 2011. Twenty-five Shih Tzu competing for a huge 5 pt major, including top ranked specials. Our Best of Breed Win with Ch Chenille Hearts On Fire " Jema" was very exciting start to a super weekend. Judge Ms. Carolyn Taylor started the winning roll, Thanks so much!

Back to Back Best of Opposite Wins for Jema. Our next turn in the ring, showing under Judge Mr Joe C Walton for another major, gave Jema her Best of Opposite Win. Super Sunday at the Sun Maid Kennel Dog Show, placing Group 4th under Judge Mrs. Anne Katona, Sunday, Feb 6, 2011. Our Super Sunday started out with a Best of Breed win showing under Judge Mr. Fredrick R. Stephens. Little things mean so much, when Jema got a special hug from him. Our little flirty girl won his heart and went on to show in the toy group. Sliding in, just in time for toys, Jema was having fun showing her Shih Tzu attitude and working the audience.

Another year has passed so quickly and were off to a great start on 2011. Wonderful time showing with our friends and enjoying our winning celebrations at San Mateo Kennel Club Dog Show. Jema starting out with a bang of wonderful wins over the current number 1 ranked female shih tzu in the nation. Outstanding performance under rough conditions Stacey Bingham winning Best of Opposite with CH Chenille Hearts On Fire "Jema" under Judge Joe Tacker. It's been a while since Stacey has shown Jema, she did a splendid job. Very Proud of Jema this week as she earned more points towards her Grand Championship. We did have a few friends drop by the ring, Cheryll Limso and her family. Loved seeing them all again and and enjoying a yummy home cooked dinner with her family. Were so excited about all the fun shows coming this New Year 2011. Also winners over the top ranked shih tzu this week are Therese Foreman showing Eddie Best of Breed, also Diane Boone showing Vincent Best of Breed well done ladies congratulations.

Great weekend at Del Monte Kennel Club dog show, in Carmel California. Our young champion prospect puppy Chenille Hearts on Fire "Jema" wins back to back Best of Breed. This is a splendid win for her at such a young age of 7 months old. She has never shown on grass, but she did a great job. Jema handles her self with ease and grace, very sound with outstanding temperament. Co Owner handled by Stacy Bingham this weekend shown under Judges Mr Kenneth M McDermott and Mrs Paula Hartinger. We want to thank our judges for awarding Jema with two Best of Breed from the classes. It was really a beautiful venue, we like to thank Warren Cook for taking a great candid photo of Jema ringside. Wonderful time showing Chenille's newest champion prospect "Jema" at Woofstock in Vallejo California. Contra Costa Kennel Club dog show venue was one of my favorites, themed 60's with all the tie dyed clothing and decorations. Sixties music playing in the background, Chenille's Hearts on Fire "Jema" enter her first show ring. Jema just turned 6 months old, meeting required age to start showing AKC events. Venturing out in the Bred By Exhibitor class, as we hoped she would present herself wonderfully. Jema being a puppy handled exceptionally well, proud of herself and thinking everyone was there to see her. Yes, she does have that "it's all about me attitude" with the adorable shih tzu puppy wonderment. Glad that we did capture Jema's first dog show on video, "Woofstock Video" on our You Tube Chenille Channel. We love sharing our special moments with all her supporting friends. An exciting time we had at the American Shih Tzu Club National, held in St Louis, Missouri. So many stunning Shih Tzu groomed to perfection and ready to show. This is truly a wonderful event for all Shih Tzu lovers. Watching adorable Shih Tzu puppies to the full coated Shih Tzu specials. This was my first time watching ring side at the ASTC National 2010. Supporting our wonderful friend Therese Forman and her girl CH Amituz China Doll, winning the Best of Opposite, Handled by Taffy Mc Fadden. Breed Judge: Mrs. Sally Vilas.

Most enjoyable was watching the Shih Tzu Puppies show in the Sweepstakes. These adorable little ones put on a wonderful show. We all love the cute puppies learning the ring, making us all giggle with affection. Sweepstakes Judge: Mrs. Margaret Brown did a wonderful job judging these outstanding puppies starting their championships. All of them are winners in our eyes as they are perfect representatives of the standard American Shih Tzu. Shih Tzu breeders from Canada, Brazil, Lithuania were present to show their newest champion prospects. Congratulations to all the Winners of the ASTC 2010 Shih Tzu National.

We are excited to announce our newest Shih Tzu Champion "Chenille Tia Mia Amour" Winning at the Gold Rush Dog Show in Merced under Judge Mrs. Michele L. Billings. This is a hometown win for us, so happy Tia finished here. We now have another Champion from our gal "Sansha" Fantasia Wind Dancer. She loves the show ring and has a wonderful show personality. We are happy to let Tia run and play outside with the rest of the kids. My Tia, My Love. She will be sporting her new hair style and will share many happy days with us! Shih Tzu grooming video produced by Philippine Shih Tzu Club. This video is a great learning tool for proper care of a shih tzu coat. Shih tzu have a long silky double coat, that needs to be clean and groomed. In this video training a shih tzu puppies to be groomed and clipped with scissors, I like to use a cordless beard trimmer for the bottom of paws and anal area. Making sure not to clip any soft tissue of the puppy. We are always sharing new information for our Shih Tzu friends and family.

We had a wonderful evening at the 38th Golden Gate Shih Tzu Speciality 2010 in San Jose, California. Chenille Tia Mia Amour, won Best of Winners, and Winners Bitch. Also our little 6 mo puppy Chenille Yahoo Doing the Dew won Winners Dog and Best of Opposite. We want to give a BIG Thank you to our Judge: Miss Virginia L. Lyne and our Handler Mr. Don Rodgers also President of the GGSTF Bonnie Prato. We look forward to this show each year and enjoy meeting and showing with all our shih tzu friends. After the show we have our GGSTF meeting, refreshments with Bonnie's super delicious Coconut cake. Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, New York 2010

Packing up for the 2010 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York. This will be our first visit to Westminster Dog Show, we have watched this show televising many years. This year CNBC and USA Network has the exclusive live coverage on Monday February 15 and 16 from Madison Square Garden.

This show is the Super Bowl of Dog Shows, so many gorgeous breeds all competing for top dog; " Best In Show". If under SB250 any intact dogs would be sterilized. And you can never own a intact dog again. Last year we had a wonderful time, showing our 2008 Best Puppy Chenille Shih Tzu Tia Mia Amour, and Chenille Heritage Softail Classic. With our very good friend Chyerll Limso, Fantasia Shih Tzu from the Philippines. Cheryll and I spent the day having so much fun, with our shih tzu puppies. It was a perfect day and a great time with all the members of the GGSTF, and of course the great potluck after the meet. Now if we can get GGSTF President Bonnie Prato to make her to die for delicous coconut cake, I know we will be there!

Wild Alaska Fishing Cruise "Fish On"

We had a wonderful Wild Alaskan Fishing Cruise, I have to say this fishing trip was absolutely perfect. Fabulous scenic way to see the true wild Alaska. Fishing 350 miles of the inside passage from Juno down to the channels and fjords of Chat ham Strait. Our Captain Larry Larson and wife Susie, and their outstanding crew. I can't say enough about the Perseverance crew, our Fishing Guide Ricky Gonzales, to Chef Joshua Young and Niles Deck Hand also Captain Don. We did have the most adventurous time fishing the calm waters. Amazing wildlife through out the trip, huge pods of humpback whales, bald eagles, sea lions, bears and dolphins. Most amazing part was watching the whales breach and dive, and listening to the whale calls. I did have a hard time getting used to be waited on, bait my hook, take my fish off, clean them, and come back to cocktails and gourmet meal dinning in the most pristine Alaskan back drop. Ok, well maybe not that hard, but it was hard reeling in 42 lb halibut. Thanks to Sir Ricky I was able to land my huge halibut, not the biggest ever caught in Alaska but it was a nice one. Everyday we explored so many wonderful fjords, a true majestic wonderland. Our group of wonderful shipmates, we had a wonderful time getting to know each one. With loads of fresh coho and pink salmon, halibut and rock fish we made our way back to home. And each time I cook our Alaskan fish, I think about our wonderful fishing cruise with Wild Alaska Fishing Cruises, thank you Larry and the Perseverance crew. Sweet Puppy Dreams

Sansha's puppies are 2 weeks old, eyes are just now open. They are so delicate at this stage, with the tiny puppy paws and cute little noses. Scooting around with tiny legs, finding that perfect spot to sleep. They are at a wonderful stage of life, mommy keeping a close eye on each one. Knowing which one needs attending, she cleans and stimulates each puppy. Sansha has to be healthy and strong to produce enough milk for 6 beautiful shih tzu puppies. Small breeds have a greater energy requirement per pound of body weight, the size of the litter requires more nutrients for milk production. Increasing her calorie intake as the puppies require more nutrition. Feeding premium food for greater caloric and nutrient. Proper nutrition is essential for healthy growing shih tzu puppies.

Sansha and Alan Yingsu's Hav'n a Goodtime at Amitzu amazing new litter of shih tzu puppies June 26, 2009. We are so excited to see five males and one female, these shih tzu puppies with outstanding markings and gorgeous faces. Sansha produced beautiful shih tzu puppies again, her last litter with Centerfold Silhouette Encore "Cory" are in the show ring. Chenille Soft Tail Classic (Myles) also Chenille Coco Chanel (CeCe) have done extremely well. We are choosing our next show prospects out of this wonderful litter, so watch for us in the show ring. Crate Training Your Puppy

Crate Training

One of the most dog friendly methods of training your pet is crate training. The process is very natural and uses the den instincts of the puppy or dog to help them understand where a safe place in the house is for them as well as giving them their own space and area. Since dogs naturally do not want to soil this area they are less likely to mess in the crate leading to faster and more efficient housebreaking.

Routines
Crate training works in conjunction with a puppies body functions. Establishing a routine with the puppy will help with the process and will avoid any unnecessary accidents. To use crate training techniques follow the steps outlined below:
• Feed and water your puppy at the same times (or as close to the same times as possible) each day. Most puppies are fed at least two to four times per day depending on their age.
• When the puppy has finished eating place them in their crate with some toys and soft bedding material. The crate should be where the puppy can still see people and feel part of the family, not where they feel that they are being isolated or punished for bad behavior.
• Approximately 15 minutes after placing the puppy in the crate take them outside or to the area that you wish them to use a bathroom. If you puppy has spoiled the crate prior to this 15 minute mark don’t punish them, simply clean the crate and plan the next time to take them out 5 minutes earlier. This is a process of trial and error but you will eventually find out just when the little puppy will go to the bathroom after eating.
• Have the puppy walk with you to the outside area or toilet area. Praise them when they go. If they are outside for more than 3-5 minutes and are showing no signs of relieving themselves simply place them back in the crate and try again in no more than 5 minutes. Don’t scold or pay undo attention to them until the go outside and eliminate. Immediately give lots of praise and attention and return them to the house for further attention and socialization.
• Puppies quickly learn that by going outside and relieving themselves they will get lots of positive attention and will come back into the house and play with or be around the family.
Cautions with Crate Training
To be sure that crate training is completed correctly make sure that the following occurs:
• Make the crate comfortable with toys, soft, washable bedding and lots of ventilation. It is to be a positive place that is the puppies “den”.
• Never use the crate as a punishment or isolation area. If your puppy begins to associate the crate with being ignored or punished they will quickly stop wanting to go to the crate.
• Keep the crate somewhere that is part of the activity centers of the house so that the puppy can still see people and be in a familiar area.
• Do not keep the puppy in the crate for prolonged periods of time. Confining your puppy to the crate is a form of punishment to the puppy and will make the crate a negative place to be.
There are many resources and books about crate training that provide additional information. Crate training your puppy makes it easy to travel with the dog as they are always at home in their crate no matter where you are or what type of transportation you use.

"Allan" & " Sansha"

We are getting very excited about Sansha and Allan's Shih Tzu Puppies. Chenille's Sansha is our foundation female, she produces outstanding shih tzu puppies. This planned breeding with "Allan" Ch Yingsu's Hav'n A Good Time at Amitzu, owned and shown by Therese Forman. Allan's father CH Bar-Lar's Maybe It Could Be ROM "Coby" is the AKC Top Producing Stud Dog of 13 Champions for 2005, with 18 champions to date. Allan is truely a outstanding Shih Tzu, I fell in love with this boy when I first saw him. His first weekend out showing he took a 3 point major. Sansha first litter produced three outstanding show prospects. Chenille's "Myles" & "CeCe" & "Tia" all have done extraordinary in the ring.

We are so excited to announce our new litter of Shih Tzu puppies from our very special Karen. Karen is our logo model for Chenille Shih Tzu. We work hard to make sure that mother and babies have the best care and totally pampered. They are home raised, with great attention to keeping them safe and well socialized. They are now 4 weeks old and starting to show their cute personalities. We will be updating videos and photo's so you can watch these babies grow. Karen had one male and 3 females, the markings on these pups are outstanding. Male puppy is a beautiful gold and white, our females two of them are gorgeous black and white and one is gold and white with black tipping absolutely stunning. We strive for quality as we want to bring out the best traits possible in our shih tzu puppies. Puppies were born April 28, 2009. Take a look at them just a week old...... to cute for words!

These Shih Tzu puppies are growing so fast, we can't believe they are already 8 weeks old. We take them out to the grass area, the grass is cool on their bellies. Plus it gives them a little tickle, they just love it. All of these babies are full of fun, they love playing with each other. Tackling seems to be the best way to get a fellow litter mate to play. We can spend the whole day watching and laughing at these little clowns, they are just to cute!

Sansha's Puppies Arrived!

We are so excited here at Chenille, our new mommy "Sansha" had her babies. She is just the perfect little mommy. Sansha started labor about 11:30 pm and delivered her first baby at 12:02. She had no problems in delivery, by 3:30 am she had six gorgeous babies, 3 females and 3 males. We couldn't ask for a more perfect litter of puppies. All of the puppies are well marked, I think two or more these puppies are definitely show prospects. We will have them evaluated around 8 weeks of age. This breeding with Silhouette's "Cory" and Fantaisa's "Sansha" looks like a perfect match.

Yosemite Kennel Club Show, Merced

Chenille's Shih Tzu Carmila's First Show at Yosemite Kennel Club, Merced California. We are so proud of our little girl, Twa-Nas Pe-Kae Carmila Frapachina she did pretty good for her first time out in the show ring. Chenille's Carmila was shown in 6 to 9 months bitch class. She was a bit shy on the table, Judge: Mr. David A. Ojalvo was very pleasant and complementing. Carmila had a slow start on the floor with wanting to put her head down. Working on the lead with wrist twitches helped to hold her head. Carmila was comfortable with the turn and walking back to the our Judge. We thank Yosemite Kennel Club and Judge Mr. David A. Ojalvo for awarding Carmila with her first place win, April 3,2008.

This show was to get Carmila out and work on socializing skills also ring time practice. This was a great deal of fun for us, we had our family and friends show up giving Carmila tons of support. Thank You!

On Friday, April 4, Carmila was shown under Judge Mr. Enrique Jorge Filippini. Chenille's Carmila did much better on the lead. This time out she was confident and knew what to do. Her gait was smooth without stopping. Exposure to the ring at her young age is extremely important. We only showed Carmila for two days, at the four day dog show. We feel that four days showing is just to much for a young puppy. My handling skills need some fine tuneing, as I'm learning how to show Shih Tzu's. We are excited about all the up and coming activities we will be attending. We will be showing our little Carmila at Yosemite Kennel Club, April 3 & 4, 2008 in Merced. This will be Carmila's first show. She is just 6 months old, so she will be in the the 6 to 9 month puppy class. Carmila is a gorgeous tri-colored Shih Tzu puppy, with a super show attitude. If your in the our area stop in at the Merced County Fairgrounds. There are so many beautiful breeds so if your a dog lover this is the place to see your favorite ones.

Also we have a planned breeding with our gal "Sansha" she is due the first part of May 2008. This is her first pregnancy, and we hope for healthy delivery. We will keep a close eye on her, as she gets closer to her due date. We breed for our show prospects, and we sometimes have pet companions available to the right home. We are always trying to improve on the breed here at Chenille Shih Tzu.
